Production Blog
Hello World,
The day officially arrived when it was time to edit the music video. First, I began uploading all of the scenes that we filmed on production day onto Capcut. Capcut is the editing software that all the editing for the music video. Then, I had to rearrange the clips to do in chronological order. The storyboard that was created earlier in the project process helped a bunch when it came to figuring out and remembering what order each scene goes in. The next thing that I had to do was input our song, but there was one small problem. The song "Love Me" by Justin Bieber wasn't already on the app. So, I had to download the song onto my phone, but I had to look up a bunch of websites to be able to download it and have the ability to add it into CapCut. Once I placed the song into the video, I began messing around with some transitions. To me, this was one of the most enjoyable parts of the whole editing process because I got to be creative and have fun with the variations of transitions available to use. For the scene where Michael (our main character) is drinking his coffee, I used a fast transition to move along quickly to the scene of him dancing. Another type of transition that I included in the music video was fade. At the beginning of the music video, there is a fade-in, and at the end, there is a fade-out to signal its conclusion. A huge problem that I'm currently facing is that once I put everything together as one, I had the realization that it's too long and its current time is 2:16 minutes. The requirements state that the video can't be less than 1:10 nor more than 1:15 minutes, meaning I have to get to work and figure out how I'm going to shorten it. The video's current time shocked me because the scenes seem to be so quick and I was afraid that it wouldn't reach the time requirement. But I stand corrected. To cut down on time, I shortened the length of some of the scenes. The scenes included the shot where Michael and I were going up the escalator when I walked away from studying and a bit from the dance scene. After shortening a couple of the scenes, it brought down the time to 2:06 minutes, which isn't bad but also not good enough. One of my favorite scenes that we filmed was the clip of Michael dancing but now I'm debating whether or not I want to remove it or not because it would shed 23 seconds off of the time. Well, that's all I got for now.
Until next time!!!!
