Hello World,
I've gotten to the portion of researching and deciding the background music for my final task!!!! The first instinct was to use google as my research platform. When I was looking for a song, a majority of the websites kept mentioning copyright and I didn't expect for it to be this complicated to find music for our film. After lots of dead ends, I looked up the civil law on copyright so I could legally use a song and to not waste anymore time researching unusable music. After diving into the world of copyright, I found out that there a bunch of different types of songs. Some that I came across of were royalty - free songs, regular songs, and public domain songs. When I found out the different types I began to do research on each individual one. In the end, I found it best to go with a royalty-free song. The reason it because that compared to the others, it doesn't have as much legal responsibilities related to copyright, making it easier on my part. Once I narrowed my research to specifically royalty-free music, I began looking up music that was mysterious and suspenseful. This genre would work best with my final task considering that it is a mysterious thriller. Another thing that I had to take into consideration was that the song shouldn't consist of lyrics since the characters in the film have a script. Lyrics in the song would be distracting and take the attention away from what the characters are saying. Therefore, I looked up non-lyric songs that would give the viewer that mysterious and suspenseful feeling. When I was browsing, a man named David Fesliyan kept showing up on my screen. He has a website called Fesliyan Studios and it had many, and I mean MANY songs. There were countless of songs to choose from that would work perfectly with my film, which made me ecstatic. But because of such a large quantity of songs, the next challenge was coming to a final decision of what song I wanted to use. This is very difficult for me, especially since I am a really indecisive person. Whenever I found a song that I liked, I would look through the policy to make sure I could use any of his music. On his site it says that if the music isn't being used for a commercial nor monetizing, anyone could use it. This was great news for me since I'm going to be using his songs for a film. In the end, the song that I've settled on was 'Too Crazy" by David Fesliyan.
Until Next Time!!!!
