Genre Research: Horror

Image
Hello World, Today I researched the genre horror. To begin with, common camera angles that I noticed were frequent in horror movies were Close-ups, eye-level shots, point-of-view shots, tracking shots, two-shots, three-shots, and low angles. These common camera angles helped me feel as if I were experiencing these films in real life by putting me in the character's shoes. This also helped create suspense and fear. Moving on, the common costume I analyzed was casual clothes, typically dark clothes and sometimes covered in fake blood. Other than the costumes I noticed that in most of the scenes, there was dark-colored lighting, spotlights, and shadows. This helped create suspense because of the mystery of what is behind the things the viewer cannot see. In horror movies, the setting is typically somewhere abandoned or a home. For props, they typically use weapons such as knives and torture devices to create the gore of the horror. Furthermore, common editing I found in horror movies ...

Our Pitch Blog

Hello World, Pitch A: A group of friends playing a game with the little brother, but what does he see that they don't? Pitch B: The student begins to receive an overbearing amount of notes and gifts in her locker, but it's different from who she expected. Discuss Pitch A: This pitch would be fun to execute because it's something different than what is normally seen in movies. We would also be interested in doing this pitch because our film's small details, like the roles of the siblings, were resolved. We also enjoyed how at the end of the film the tension was broken. Although some ideal locations may not allow filming. Also, it would be difficult to get multiple actors to be a part of our film. Discuss Pitch B: This pitch would be interesting to bring to life to show the progression of the gifts and how they become overwhelming throughout the film . Although we would not be able to get the amount of props needed for our film. Our editing process would be simpler an...

Group Blog

Hello World, When I got this assignment, I was really excited!!!! I knew in an instant who I wanted to work with. My group for this project includes my friends Madelyn, Shadae, and myself. I'm not the only one out of the three of us who automatically thought about each other when the teacher said we could work in groups, especially when the three of us just looked at each other and kept smiling the whole time as if we could read one another's minds. One of the main reasons why I chose the two of them to be my partners was the fact that I already had a connection/relationship with them. As a result, it wouldn't be awkward when it came to filming, trying to figure out where we would do our project, badgering them to finish one of the assignments, giving honest opinions, etc. I also chose them because I knew that I could rely on them and that they would leave it up to me to do only some of the work. Something I knew for sure was that I did not want to do this project by myse...

Hi world,  I’m Giovanna Pereira and this is me (I guess). Well, I’m not really sure about what I should be saying so I’m just going to write whatever comes to mind. When I’m older, I want to be a lawyer (specifically a transactional lawyer) and I want to own my own law firm, I'd call it Dwell Law Firm. One of my greatest passions is God and the church. I'm extremely dedicated to the church and God has done the impossible in my life, so why not do the things that will make Him happy?! I'm currently a leader for a children's life group, I'm a host for a teen life group, and I'm part of a small team called the Enjoy X team. The Enjoy X team plans, sets up, and takes control of the Enjoy X services (a church service for teenagers). In my life group for children, I currently lead 5 children. Their names are Enzo, Bella, Rhyara, Alan (I call him alanzinho), and Ben. Those children are one of the best things that have come into my life and I am grateful every day for ...

Critical Creative Reflection

Image
Hello World, These are my responses to the Critical Creative Reflection Questions :) How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? For my music video, I somewhat challenged conventions. In my genre and the songs that I used for my research blog, they mainly demonstrated more of a generally happy feeling when it comes to a boy and a girl, whether it be in a relationship or attraction in general. But something that is rarely seen in these music videos is the darker areas of relationships including manipulation, gaslighting, and desires that are not mutual. For my music video, I chose the song “Love Me” by Justin Bieber, and for the music video, I wanted to show a bit of that not-so-happy area of relationships or between people in general that people tend to avoid showing. The way that I interpreted to song was that the guy was declaring his love for the girl he likes and kept insisting for her to love him, telling her where she shou...

Hello World, This is part 2 of the editing process. A bunch of shortening and removing scenes were done. Our video was too long, so for some scenes like the escalator scene we had to cut it down quite a bit along with speeding up some of the scenes as well. At first, I had to cut out the dancing scene. I was really upset about removing it but after making some tweaks, I was able to add it in again!!!! One of the biggest problems that I ran into was the audio. I had to record the audio 3 TIMES. The first time that I attempted to record the video, the audio wouldn't stop. For the second time, the audio was barely audible, meaning I could barely hear it. But thankfully, the third attempt worked since I screen-recorded it, however, I had to make adjustments since it wasn't properly aligned with the music video. There were some scenes that we had to completely remove including the first escalator scene, the scene of the main character seeing his crush for the first time that day and...
